Do you know about Solo Thoughts?
It's a great research tool to help church soloists, musical directors and music committees to find music appropriate to church services -- particularly songs for the soloist. It's called Solo Thoughts and Watchfire Music publishes this quarterly and monthly. We've been doing this now for about 8 years.
If you are new to Solo Thoughts, here are more specifics: Solo Thoughts matches 12 to 24 solos per week to each Christian Science Weekly Bible Lesson. It also provides a purchase link to buy in-print sheet music for your church service. This is a very detailed document that cuts your own research time down as well as introducing you to new sacred solo repertoire.
Solo Thoughts comes in 2 pdf files to give you suggestions for contemporary solos, out-of-print solos and also instrumental music for your service's preludes and postludes. To purchase and read more, as well as get a free pdf sample, click here.
Solo Thoughts has really evolved over the past 8 years, and recently it went through another big evolution. I thought it would be good to include it here for those of you who may not have heard about it.

You may have noticed that changes are afoot here at the Solo Thoughts Headquarters at Watchfire Music! I am excited to share with you the details of these new directions!
To start, beginning with Solo Thoughts 3rd Quarter 2015, we have merged Solo Treasures into the Solo Thoughts PDF document in order to provide a richer and more inspiring research experience for you and your church. With this “merger” between the two PDFs, we have categorized Solo Thoughts suggestions together with Solo Treasures suggestions so that you may see all of the options available within a particular week and more specifically, within particular solo categories.
You will always know if you are viewing a Solo Treasures suggestion as it is clearly labeled next to the title of the song as a [Solo Treasure].
Why the merger? Along with requests over the years to do this, we have found the need to become ever more efficient in our process of delivery to you, the subscribers.
For several years we’ve been working to streamline and automate the process of creating Solo Thoughts for each new quarter. Up until now, as you can well imagine, this has been a massively time-consuming endeavor. We’ve often wished that we had more time to get deeper into the creative and spiritual research necessary.
Now, however, together with our technical design team, we’ve automated the assembly of this product for the first time so that we may finally devote more thought to the researching of music of all kinds -- new and old -- for ever more creative and inspiring editions of Solo Thoughts.
Hence – this new streamlined PDF.
Our aim is to provide you with a more powerful, comprehensive, -- and compact -- research tool.
We think the benefits of this merger run in two equally important directions: By having the opportunity to view contemporary music suggestions right next to time-honored “chestnuts,” you may be inspired to try something brand new one Sunday and vice-versa.
